Candidate for First Selectman
Jamie was born and raised in Branford and comes from a family that has contributed much to the growth and development of our town. He is the grandson of Dan Cosgrove, after whom our regional animal shelter is named, and is the 5th generation to raise a family in Branford. He is the middle child in a family of seven that includes siblings Kalee, Eileen, Danny, Meaghan, Kevin and Clare.
Jamie attended Mary T. Murphy School and Walsh Intermediate School. While at Murphy, he received the James Bracken 5th Grade Friendship Award. He graduated from Branford High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of New Haven in 1996. After graduating from college, Jamie began work at his family’s Branford business, Cosgrove Construction.
Jamie has worked for Cosgrove Construction for over 20 years and currently serves as Project Manager. In his capacity as Project Manager, Jamie is responsible for preparing estimates and budgets, negotiating, contracting and managing schedules.
Jamie was elected to the Branford RTM in 2009. While on the RTM, he served as a member of several committees, including the Administrative Services Committee and the Rules and Ordinances Committee. In 2011, he was elected to a two-year term as Selectman and has served with pride as the minority member of that body. He has been especially proud of his consistent position against the Tabor development, his proposal to bring an independent Public Building Commission to Branford and his ability to serve the citizens of his hometown fairly and honestly.
Jamie lives on Parish Farm Road with his wife, Nicole and two young daughters, Ava and Lila. Ava is nine and attends Mary T. Murphy School and Lila is four and attends Pine Orchard Nursery School.
When not working or volunteering, Jamie can be caught making school lunches, cooking dinner or reading bedtime stories.
Candidate for Selectman
Joe Higgins retired to Branford in 2006 after a long and distinguished career in the New York Fire Department. He lives in Branford with his wife Angela in Hampton Park and his daughter and son-in-law, Michele & Michael Schettino.
In 1967, Joe began his career in the FDNY as a Fire Alarm Dispatcher, rising through the ranks to become Deputy Director of Fire Communications in 1996 and Fire Commissioner Liaison in 1998. Since his retirement in 2006, Joe has worked as a Emergency Communications Consultant throughout Connecticut.
In addition to his consulting work, Joe is the Vice President of Woodlands Hills Condominium Association and a Eucharistic Minister at St Mary Church. Joe looks forward to using his extensive knowledge of public safety/critical operational systems to help assure a safe and secure Branford.
Candidate for Town Clerk
Lisa Arpin has called Branford home for the past 35 years. A former small business owner in Branford, Lisa now serves as parish administrator at St. Mary Church, where she has been a communicant for over thirty years.
Lisa has served the community of Branford as a volunteer at the Community Dining Room, Branford Road Race, “Friendly Visitor” visiting the elderly and homebound, “Abraham’s Tent” outreach ministry and the St. Mary School’s annual golf tournament. She was past treasurer, secretary and board member of River’s Edge Condo Association in Branford and is a supporter of “STOP TABOR.”
As candidate for Town Clerk on the Cosgrove for Branford team, Lisa is eager to apply her high-energy and administrative talent to go “above-and-beyond” in public service to the Town of Branford!
Candidate for Treasurer
Michael received his B.S. from the University of Tampa in 1987 with concentrations in Computer Science and Marketing. He is a Partner of The Weston Associates, Inc., leading the firm’s Technology, Business Process, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Sectors.
Michael is a former member of the Branford Representative Town Meeting (RTM), serving from 2005-2011. Michael served on the Administrative Services Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. Michael was also a soccer coach for many years.
Michael’s wife Carrie is a paraprofessional at the Mary Tisko School. Michael and Carrie have three children, Grace, Kara and Sally, who have all attended Branford schools.
